US students visit Health Works

Last Thursday, 8th of March 2018, twenty three students from Emory University Atlanta visited Health Works as part of a short term EU educational trip. The students are enrolled for the Master Public Health study at the Rollins School of Public Health.

After a brief welcome introduction, students attended two sessions covering two major topics and focus of our humanitarian development programs: global mental health and public health. The global mental health session covered topics such as mental health and psychosocial support, focusing on the main challenges of these domains in humanitarian action.

Public health session discussed vulnerability and health system strengthening within post-conflict areas. An example was given of sexual and reproductive health and rights program. The sessions were interactive and students were encouraged to apply some of their acquired knowledge to the practical examples of Health Works’ field work.

The visit provided Health Works with the opportunity to share information on our organizational departments and joined country experiences and work. We hope to welcome more students in the future and share our expertise within specific health domains.
